Easy Simple Syrups! Strawberry Basil

It is comforting the little joys our family is finding with more time during covid-19. One thing we enjoy are flavored refreshing drinks like lemonades, cocktails, and Italian sodas. A great discovery is that is very simple to make a variety of flavored syrups and affordable too!

We went to get organic produce at a local farm yesterday, they did a great job practicing cleanliness and social distancing. Two things that were in season were basil and strawberries. What a perfect combination for us to try first! I also picked up some country flowers pictured below, it truly brightened my day and is filling our house with a little extra beauty.

Below is a recipe to make your own simple syrup and can be adapted with other fruits, vanilla, cinnamon, ect. I will write about more flavors in the weeks to come. We also immediately made strawberry basil lemonade, and for myself later- a strawberry-basil margarita!

Simple syrups may be stored in mason jars in the refrigerator for up to a month.
